Do you ever wonder why some people look amazing in block, monochrome colours and others just dont? Wonder no more! Im here to give you a quick contrast lesson!
What is contrast?
Its all to do with understanding colour. Its a dark to light scale numbered from 1 – 10, 1 being black and 10 being white. This scale is used in many fields including hairdressing – so 1 is black hair dye and 8 is a blonde (you may have heard your hairdresser talking numbers).
what is your contrast?
LowContrast = you could have Light coloured hair, blonde, grey, brown, or dark brown black hair AND your skin is nearly the same colour tone as your hair eg: Blonde hair, fair skin and blue eyes, OR Med brown hair, olive skin and brown eyes.
Medium Contrast =medium brown hair, fair skin and hazel eyes, dark blonde hair, brown eyes, fair skin
High Contrast = Red Hair, fair skin, green eyes, Black hair, fair skin and blue eyes
What does this mean for you?
It means that if you have HIGH COLOUR CONTRAST - then you will look great when you wear lots of different colours as your face can take the extreams of colour.
If you have a LOW COLOUR CONTRAST - then you would look better when wearing more monochromitic colours, it has a more calming effect on your face.
If your a HIGH COLOUR CONTRAST then you can wear more strong contrasting colours . It also means that you can wear stronger patterns as your high contrasting features can carry it off.
