The amount of times where people have told me that i must spend alot of $$ on clothes, being a Stylist BUT and the truth is - I dont! I thought i would share 10 tips of how to make your outfits look expensive when they may not be!
.TAILORING-Investing in a trip to the tailors or just buying clothes that fit you like a glove instantly looks as if you havent pulled it off the clothes rack of a local retail store. Tailoring creates clean lines and looks as if it was made for you and only you!
.GET THE IRON OUT - This seems like something your mother would say and we all know time in the morning is precious. Taking the extra five minutes to steam or press your look will add instant polish to your outfit. Nothing worse than looking like you slept in your clothing and you just rolled out of bed!
.ADD ACCESSORIES-There is just something about structural, gilded extras—whether a bag or jewelry or both—that make you look like you stepped out of the pages of a magazine.Remember that sometimes with accessories LESS IS MORE - your not trying to confince people that you are dripping with $$
.DRESS IN TONAL COLOURS- Not only is it incredibly elongating, but a monochrome outfit always looks intentional and put together. (Tip: Just make sure your whites are bright and your blacks match)
.ADD A BELT- tuck in any shirttails or a baggy sweater hem and cinch your waist with a chic belt for maximum impact. When clothes are left hanging out and shapeless they tend to look sloppy.
6. KEEP HANDBAGS CLEAN AND UPDATED-An easy giveaway to an expensive looking outfit is having a shabby and worn out handbag that has seen much better days! Clean the leather ones, feed them some conditioner and when the others start to fall apart - treat yourself! Your handbag says alot about who YOU are.
.POLISHED HAIRSTYLE AND MAKE UP- If your hair is shinning and well groomed and you have simple YET clear make-up applied you will instantly look well put together! Try a red lip, flawless skin—these are the ultimate finishing touches.
.A TAILORED JACKET- It elevates denim, polishes flow-y dresses, looks chic thrown over the shoulders and takes slim pants to the board room. Dress this UP AND DOWN!
.DENIM- Just make sure you always add heels and keep the silhouettes and washes classic rather than going for the trendy jeans!
.OUTERWEAR- Forgo the trends each season and focus on purchasing coats that are forever: classic camel, navy pea, black moto, belted trench, raw denim—every time you reach for a topper, you won't regret it.
